How to turn off beeps in GoToMeeting

How many times has this happened to you?

You start your GoToMeeting session a few minutes early (probably to check that you look reasonably presentable on webcam, oh and of course to check that you’re ready to start sharing the latest version of document XYZ). Then suddenly you hear…

Beep…. Beep….Beep…

You think to yourself – is someone else here?

“Hello?”

No response. You then realise that no one else has joined.

Well let me reassure you that you’re not imagining things – those beeps are designed to tell you that you’re the only one in the meeting so far – no one else has joined.

But did you know that you can TURN THEM OFF?

It’s the same with the entry and exit chimes that you hear every time someone joins or leaves your meeting. You have the option to customise your audio settings in GoToMeeting and turn them off if that is your preference.

Here’s how to turn off audio beeps and entry / exit chimes in GoToMeeting

1. Go to the audio pane of your GoToMeeting control panel and click on the three dots just above ‘Sound Check’.

2. Now you can decide which audio sounds you want to keep and which ones to turn off.

Please note that this feature is not available in GoToMeeting Free. And On Hold beeps are off by default for all new customers since November 2015.

If you’re a web app user of GoToMeeting – click here to see how you can turn off these sounds.

Brilliant! Is there a similar option in GoToWebinar too?

    • Gemma, Citrix Interactions

Hi Anne – yes you can also switch off the audio beeps in GoToWebinar. Within the audio pane, click on ‘Edit’ and you will see the option to turn off the sound.

A great piece of info! As a frequent host I’m often the first on the call, and usually leave the phone on speaker until someone joins, which means the whole office gets to enjoy my hold beeps – thanks for helping me stop annoying my colleagues.

I’ll have to find another way now :)

That made me chuckle. Glad we could help Andrew!
