How a tech startup has grown rapidly with the help of GoToMeeting

CrunchBoards is an all-in-one forecasting and reporting tool that helps business make better-informed decisions based on their finance data.

The company was created by entrepreneurs Hannah McIntyre and Amy Harris to future-proof businesses and accountancy practices and give complete confidence in their financial future. It was designed to meet their own needs and bridge the gap between accountancy software that focuses on compliance, and business planning and reporting tools.

And in only one year since launch, CrunchBoards has experienced rapid growth – being used by over 5,000 customers in 58 countries. Below you’ll see why CrunchBoards turned to GoToMeeting to help them keep up the rate of expansion, whilst also keeping internal team members connected across continents.

The challenge CrunchBoards faced

Australia is one of CrunchBoard’s core markets due to its reputation as a fast growing technology market and the large number of Xero users, an online accounting tool which CrunchBoards integrated with first. With the founders being based in Brighton and London, issues with time zones and communication quickly became apparent. Sales teams in London and Sydney needed a tool to interact with customers and prospects across the globe and an easy way to offer product demos and onboarding sessions. McIntyre and Harris also needed a solution to connect the internal team which had to be scalable due to the rapid pace of growth of the business.

How GoToMeeting helped CrunchBoards

“We trialed a couple of solutions, but they didn’t provide the quality and reliability we were looking for. GoToMeeting simply works, which is why we selected it,” said McIntyre. As a global company operating in over 50 markets, GoToMeeting allows CrunchBoards to interact with existing clients and prospects as though they are in the same room.

“GoToMeeting is completely integral to our business. You can’t facilitate growth of this speed by walking into people’s offices; that wouldn’t be cost-effective at all. It also allows us to retain the personal nature of our business and avoid becoming a faceless organisation to our customers.

“Working remotely can have its challenges. With offices in Brighton, London and Sydney and customers in nearly 60 countries, communication can sometimes be lost in translation. GoToMeeting gives us the option to collaborate more closely as a team and offer a personalised service.”

The benefits of using GoToMeeting for CrunchBoards

CrunchBoards has made good use of the various features that GoToMeeting offers. Here you can see the benefits that it’s particularly enjoyed.

  1. GoToMeeting allows seamless international collaboration with existing clients, prospects and staff across the globe.
  2. “The Google Calendar integration is our favourite feature,” said McIntyre. “We can schedule meetings in one click and it saves so much pointless admin.”
  3. Features like the integrated HD webcam streams, screen sharing, switching presenter and taking over keyboard and mouse control are also “completely invaluable from an education perspective,” according to McIntyre.
  4. Due to its SaaS subscription model GoToMeeting is highly scalable and can grow with the business.

GoToWebinar has also been identified by the CrunchBoards team as a next step to help with training large audiences as well as a way to attract new prospects.
